My SQL Blog
What is this blog about?I have been working for the Last 20 years in the computing field, the typical hardware was the CPU 286 at 33 MHz. and hard disk of 20 MB, the memory RAM was 64 KB.
What memories of those days, everything was new and expensive, the operative system was DOS 3.0 and in the best of the case 6.0 with a shell application that emulated a window that allowed to copy or move files among directories (folders now), or to another storage device which the most common was a floppy disk of 1.44 Mb and 3.5”, monitor CRT of 14” and black and white. The above configuration was the one that I have at work and expensive, I was working designing an application in Dbase the father or MS FoxPro; it was slow development if you started from scratch the entire application and we had to share files at the end of the day to keep a unique version, well in case that we did not have a network, in the best scenario we used to have a network based on Novell 3.11 with SPX protocol, no regrets and only good experiences, manage the security was so easy beside no worries about external users, no Internet intruders and no virus from unknown sources only the floppy disks that one “savvy “ brought from home. But talking about of Database development as I mentioned the DBase, was my started, later the company grew up and need to have another solution for data storage so Oracle version 6.0 for Unix was the better option, great insight for those days we learned Unix and Oracle; Oracle forms was the front end, these was based in a GUI and allow you to make designed with a nice presentation, Internet show up and the share tips was easy. Quickly MS SQL show up with the version 7.0 and I had been working with this technology some Access to small range applications and My-SQL 5.0,of course taking advantage that is free for small and mid range applications,. So I started this blog in order to share tips and provide insights that help to improve a specific approached for a particular problem, at the same time the feedback that the readers provide me will help me in dig a little bit more in a subject. |
